Vivid Living Patch Opens Thanks To Nestle
On Friday 22 November Vivid was thrilled to welcome representatives from Nestle Tongala to officially open the Vivid Living Patch – a brand new garden space that epitomises community partnerships.
In late 2018, Vivid applied for a grant as part of Nestle’s Community Partnerships which would redevelop an underutilised space at our High Street South Echuca site. The plan for the new garden was to offer the people we support more opportunities to develop essential life skills.
Nestle were quick to jump on board as the primary partner for this project.
The key elements of the Vivid Living Patch are over thirty raised garden beds that are made out of recycled plastic tubs from Nestle. The ‘pallecons’ have been repurposed, thanks to Echuca Men’s Shed who also came on board with the project.
New turf has been laid by Coolabah Turf which enhances the outdoor space and is already being used for recreation and activities like yoga.
On a day to day basis, so many areas of the programs and activities that Vivid offer will be able to link in with this project. Our Comm Tech program have been busy making Easy English signs for the garden beds; our Garden & Environment group are taking care of planting, watering and harvesting the herbs and vegetables, while the Cooking & Catering group will be using the produce in their recipes.
We would like to send a huge thanks to Nestle for partnering with us on this project.
